Lockdown Challenge

Startup Nagaland aims to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the state, which will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities. Startup Nagaland aims at empowering start-ups to grow through innovation and design.

The lockdown has impacted businesses of all sizes, including startups. Supply chains are interrupted, offline businesses are suffering losses and the overall economy is moving at a very slow pace. The pandemic has however, accelerated digitisation, and startups that have already incorporated digital strategies to provide essential commodities stand to benefit from this situation.

The impact of Covid-19 has been so disruptive that annual festivals and challenges for students or start-ups in the state cannot be held in the foreseeable future. To ignite young innovative minds at home, Startup Nagaland is scouting for innovative product/solutions from startups to fight this epidemic in different ways such as these:

  Provide additional support to different groups of society particularly vulnerable groups where virtual doctor visits can happen.

  Maintain public safety and public health in general, during an outbreak by the use of support tools and mobile applications for healthcare workers, using drones to deliver medical supplies, and help prevent frontline workers from catching the infection.

  Public Transportation solutions having Zero contact between drivers & passengers.

  Innovative equipments/tools for police personnel and frontline workers.

  Innovative solutions to encourage agri and allied sector especially in rural areas to cater to the demand of urban areas during lockdown.

  Any product/services that will prove useful to help fight this pandemic and also help the society at large in any way possible.

  Development of technology or solution to avoid spread of Covid-19 in crowded areas, especially market areas.

  Development of technology or solution to monitor people under quarantine.

  Solution for delivery of medicine in remote areas during lockdown.

  Please fill up the form if you feel that your innovation/solution will help and improve the COVID-19 situation. Every application will be screened by team of experts, there will be considerable amount of time spent on reviewing each of your application.

  The focus behind this exercise is to bring together Product/ Solutions which can help tackle this situation.

  The Nagaland Innovation Society will deliberate the innovations/solutions based on the feasibility of your product/solution.

Startup Nagaland is scouting for innovative product/solutions from start-ups to fight this pandemic in different ways. The challenge criteria are listed below.

Eligible Startups:
Nagaland registered start-ups having ready Prototypes OR Startups with products ready to be deployed.

Eligible Sectors:
1. IT.
2. Technology.
3. Agri-horti.
4. Service.
5. Logistics.
6. Healthcare.

Process of Selection:
1. All Interested Startups are to submit their applications online in the Startup Nagaland Portal on or before 30th June 2020 along with a Video detailing their innovation.

2. First Level Screening for sufficiency of data will be carried out by the Department of Industries & Commerce.

3. Selected applications shall be forwarded to the Nagaland Innovation Society (NIS) for evaluation and selection.

4. Approved applications by the NIS will be given Cash Grants after due process is carried out.

A. Best three innovative idea or solution (for each Sector):
1st Prize - Rs. 20,000/-
2nd prize - Rs. 10,000/-
3rd Prize - Rs. 5,000/-

B. Best Prototype (for each sector):
1st Prize - Rs. 30,000/-
2nd prize - Rs. 20,000/-
3rd Prize - Rs. 10,000/-

C. Best innovative technology:
1st Prize - Rs. 1,00,000/-
2nd prize - Rs. 50,000/-
3rd Prize - Rs. 30,000/-
